Television; the Family Gadget

In this ever-changing technological era, television still used as a common mean of entertainment in many families. Some people think that television is dangerous because it destroys family life and any sense of community; instead of visiting people or talking with our family we just watch television, or in other words, television limits our social life. Personally, I do not agree with that opinion, because television has many advantages if we can use it wisely. In fact, it even can develop our social skills as well as broaden our way of thinking.

If you choose the right channel, you can find many beneficial educational programs. National geographic or CNN, for example, is two of the leading educational TV channels that give us knowledge of the current event that happens in the international life. It keeps us updated and conscious about the things that happens around the world. Also, many of the TV channels educate children. They give children positive moral messages as well as creative ways of thinking.

However, many people in the society have totally different thought. They think that television program makes their viewers become addicted. Housewives neglect their children; children don’t pay attention in school; workers become lazy and sleepy because they watch midnight TV programs.

On the contrary, I think TV unite family member together. Some families spend their time together in front if the TV watching inspiring family programs. They can share their thought about the issue in the TV (for example, talkshow, news, documentary, etc), laugh together, talk about their problems or simply chat with the other family member. That is the clear evidence that TV tightens the bonds between family members
