Two Things that Makes Sukabumi Known

Sukabumi is known for its compactness. It is a small town, almost one-third the size of Bandung. It is loaded with lots of public service buildings, such as hospitals, high schools, town hall, jogging track, markets, and malls; they’re placed in several spots that easy to be accessed. Its citizens seldom experience traffic jam because the streets almost never overloaded with cars. The town is so clean and organized it won Adipura (an award that presented to the cleanest and most organized city); the award can be seen on the top of a big fountain in the center of the town.

Sukabumi is also known for its natural environment. Forest that surrounds it helps maintain fresh air for citizens to breathe. Beyond it, a waterfall lies, which is usually visited by tourists. A river that flows through the town is known to be a famous “arung jeram” (an extreme sport which involve crossing river with a rubber boat) site. There is also a very wide grass field used as camping ground and a tea field that perfect for jogging. And, the white-sand beach in the southern side of the town is so beautiful that Ir. Soekarno chose to erect one of first five star hotels, Samudra Beach, there.

Attractions Jakarta Has To Offer

Attractions Jakarta Has To Offer

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia and also the largest city in the country, but for me, Jakarta means so much more. It is a place I can truly call ‘home’ since the day I was born. No matter what happens, I believe Jakarta will always have something special to serve to its visitors. That is why I think Jakarta is a one special place to live in.

Jakarta has a lot of tourist attractions I am sure would meet people’s interests. If they want to know more about the fight for Indonesia’s freedom and the country’s famous Declaration of Independence, they can go to “Monumen Nasional” or “Tugu Monas”. Not only they will experience an educational trip, they can also enjoy the beautiful view of Jakarta by simply taking an elevator up to the top floor. If they are interested in having a day of fun in the sun, they can go to “Ancol”. This place includes beach, hotels, a theme park called “Dunia Fantasi” or “Dufan”, a conservation of sea living creatures called SeaWorld, and many more. People can also go to “Taman Mini Indonesia Indah” or “TMII” for more information about Indonesian cultures, such as architectures, clothing, and other forms of tradition. Other recreational facilities, such as museums, cable cars or “kereta gantung”, and a theatre called “Teater Keong Emas”, are also available for visit. For those who are a fan of delicious dishes, Jakarta has varieties of tasty traditional food. Take “Soto Betawi” for example. It is a beefy soup containing thick coconut milk which is best served with tomatoes, boiled potatoes, melinjo crackers which are more commonly known as “emping”, and steamed rice. Besides “Soto Betawi”, there is also “Kerak Telor” which is just as delicious. It is a form of omelette made of sticky rice, egg, and salted dried shrimp or “ebi”. It is served with topping which includes shredded coconuts. After trying out several local delectables, it is best to check out some of the many cultures Jakarta has. The famous ones include “Lenong” and “Ondel-Ondel”. “Lenong” is a form of traditional theatre accompanied with the music from a musical instrument called “Gambang Kromong”. The scenario of “Lenong” contains moral messages. “Ondel-Ondel” is a huge human statue which was believed by the local people to be able to banish evil spirits. Apart from everything mentioned above, Jakarta still has a lot of other interesting sides everyone can enjoy, so if you have spare time, please visit Jakarta to find out more about what this metropolitan city has to offer.

Problems In Jakarta

Jakarta, as any other capital cities of developing countries, faces many problems. High criminality rate is one of them. Many Jakarta citizens say that Jakarta is very unsafe. People got pick pocketed often, robbery also happens all the time, murder also fills the columns of newspapers, and the same thing also goes for rape. Some sociologists and anthropologists say that this thing happens because the congestion in Jakarta. People with low educational background usually loses in the competition of job seeking, some, even many of them will become criminals in order to fill their family’s needs.

The other problem is flood. When it rains in Jakarta, every citizen must be wondering if his/her house will be flooded again. In some areas, the flood even reaches the traffic light. Flood in Jakarta happens because of several things. The primary cause of flood is the garbage that people throw blocks the flow of the river which will make the water concentrated in one area only, the other thing is there are not enough trees in Jakarta. If there are enough trees, they will absorb the excess water above the ground. As you know, there are too many buildings in Jakarta which leaves no land to be grown by trees.

Finally the biggest weakness of Jakarta is pollution. In Jakarta, pollution is a common thing. Air, water, and even sound is polluted. People who throw their garbage carelessly, buses with exhaust pipe which is filled with thick black smoke, the drivers who honks their cars’ horn often, even in religious places, are some contributors of those pollution. Ironically, they confess that they are Jakarta citizens. Can we fix all this mess? I hope so. But we must work together in order to do so.

Jakarta, the City of Problems

Traffic jam is the biggest and incessant problem of my hometown, Jakarta. The terror of getting caught in a seemingly boundless ocean of motor vehicles haunts us at any time and any corner in this city of more than 8 million people. Recent research conducted by the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) shows that if there are no further mending in public transportation, the traffic of Jakarta will utterly dead in the year of 2014. The estimation is based on the statistics from the Department of Transportation which show that the number of vehicles in Jakarta is estimated to be more than 7 million vehicles, with an increasing rate of 11% each year. Ironically, the statistics also revealed that the growth of the road length was not even reach a percentage number of 1% annually. Then virtually from the numbers above, we can simply notice how there is an unbalance between the rapid growth of vehicles and the construction of streets in Jakarta which increase the probability of traffic jam. The problem of traffic jam is still undaunted although the government has tried so many things, such as the building of bus way, implementation 3-in-1 system, and construction of various streets and highways. In spite of all efforts of the municipal government of Jakarta, the traffic jam is a prevalent dilemma that makes my hometown so notorious.

The litter mismanagement is another major quandary that occurs in Jakarta. At a glance, the main streets in the metropolis look so clean with no even single trash in it. But when you look at the brownish river with the “things” that it carries along and lesser streets, the true evil is revealed. According to the statistics of the Sanitation Department, Jakarta produces about 6,000 tons of waste each day with domestic waste contributes to 58% of the total amount of daily waste production. Again, just like the traffic jam problem, there is an unbalance in the waste management system. The TPA of Bantar Gebang can only receive 3,000 tons of litter each day, while the TPST of Bojong can only accept 250-400 tons of inorganic waste and 800 tons of organic waste each day. In the TPA of Bantar Gebang, the 108 hectares wide plains had become vast heaps of rubbish with the approximate height of 25 meters. In the end the waste was not really managed and treated well, thus it makes any place in the city as a dumping place for trashes. The fact that most of the people are lacking in discipline of trash disposal and fondness of sanitation only worsen the trouble. No wonder why the city of Jakarta was known for its garbage.

Flood is an additional problem that makes Jakarta an unpleasant place to live. The occurrence of a major flooding in Jakarta was almost annually or in a cycle of years. One of the terrible floods occur in 1996 when area of 5,000 hectares were flooded, 85 people were killed and about 350,000 people were forced to leave their homes, the losses from infrastructure damage and state revenue were at least 5.2 trillion rupiahs. The same disaster did happen again in the year of 2002 and 2007 with the number of losses similar to that of 1996. Those suffering have inflicted heavy losses to so many people and the government itself repeatedly. Despite so many things have been tried by the incumbent officers such as cleaning the river and constructing gigantic canals, yet still the flood problem is a matter that only time will know when it will be ended. As the year past by, the flood always ravage Jakarta violently, leaving many victims.

My Lovely Jakarta

Jakarta is located on the northwestern coast of Java island at the end of the Ciliwung River. The northern part of Jakarta is eight meters above the sea level. This contributes to the frequent flooding. The city borders the province of west java on its east side and the province of West on its west side.

The amazing skyscrapers and the only one in Jakarta even inthe world is National Monument (Monas),Monas with 132m high is icon of Jakarta, in this place we can see the whole of Jakarta.
The culture of Jakarta known as Betawi culture, Betawi culture is very unique, because it is influenced by another culture such as chinnesse, India, Arabian, and others culture. For woman costume are Kebaya with buttened cuffs, a sarong with the lasem motif.

Jogja always keep their unique cultural tradition. For example, there’s a moment called ‘Pesta Rakyat Sekaten’ in Jogja. You don’t have to pay much on this occasion, it costs for about IDR 5000 to entry then you can try various kind of games; happy train, ghost house, or the traditional bianglala. If you already went to those places and feeling hungry, you may go to some place called “Angkringan” that spread in every single corner of the town. It supplies you a special menu from Jogja, Nasi Kucing. It contains a mini portion of rice added with one variety of side dishes.

Like I already said, jogja also famous with its entertainment sites. If you like challenges then you may go to Merapi mountain which is still active and placed on the north side of Jogja. Nearby the mountain, there is a tour place named Kaliurang. This is a good place to take a shot for your memorized-moment.In the end of the trip, some people prefer go to Taman Sari Water Castle. Previously, this water castle is only used by Sultan’s family. Now, this place is the most favorable spot because of its good ancient Javanese architecture. Furthermore, you may see a full-view every side of Jogja from this location.

It’s completely true if Jogja called as the never ending Asia, so once is never enough for me to visit Jogja.
