Underage Beggars in Jakarta.

In my hometown Jakarta, we can find many of school-aged children on the streets begging for money. This situation occurred because their parents are unable to provide money enough to support their daily needs, so they have to beg and plea in order to fulfill their nutritional and/or educational needs. Or worse, there are some cases in which these children were forced to beg by their parents or some other people because its a common knowledge that the citizens have more sympathy to children beggars than the adult ones. We can find them begging at any time of the day, walking around on their naked feet on the hot street asphalt.

The situation will not improve if we continue to give them money, but educating them might make a change. Because by giving them money, we only encourage them to beg for more, therefore they will have no motivation to make their life any better, and someday their children will also be beggars. And also it will give the unemployed an incentive to beg instead of finding another work, because begging is so easy and profitable. But by educating them, we can give them the knowledge they need to find a proper job and make a living out of it. Furthermore, this action will save the next generation from being beggars too.
